just rewired my whole jeep. everything works great and I was surprised at how easy it was. The only thing that I just noticed is when the headlights are on, and you step on the brake, the left brakelight goes out completly, and the right brake light works fine. Without stepping on the brake, both rear "parking" lights work fine. and with the headlights off, the brake lights work like they should. Any ideas on where to start? I would think I screwed up something in the turn signal switch?

I think I wired the dimmer perfectly fine. there is the harness the goes to the dimmer button, that couldn't have gotten screwed up. then the 1 wire goes to the headlight switch. Do you think maybe there is a bad connection inside the directional signal unit?

With the headlights off, do the brakes still use the high intesity aspect of the bulb? I would think so, but if they didn't, it could just be a bulb with the second level of lighting blown. Other then that, its gotta be a bad solder or something inside the directional switch. Actually, I still can't make sense out of it in my head. I guess when I fix my carb, I will try to put in the switch off my other jeep. And I'm gonna go out soon and make sure I don't have anything crossed.

They should all be labeled as to what goes where, no? I didn't have any problems with mine once I put the right plug on for the turn signal.

I tried changing bulbs in mine and it did not fix it. I am inclined to believe its a bad ground. It only started acting up when I took all my lights out to paint the Jeep. Let me know what you found out today...

Still nothing. It can't bee a bad ground if the parking lights work fine. It's gotta be in the directional signal, because the right blinker is working as a brake light but the left blinker isn't. It's could be wired wrong, but I think its the directional getting tired. This is the only place that I can see this problem possibly happening.

Ended up being just corrosion on the bulb. Have no fear tho, I found this out after I pulled out my old directional, wired in a new one, pulled that one out and put mine back in. Classic.
