gearing ?

    OK what i need to no is on a 72 cj what gearing came from the factory an also what gear cam out in a 79 cj7 qtrac i got a friend the put the axle out of his 72 into his 79 an i think he put it in not knowing the ratio cause he exploded the tcase again but he did it with the factory axle too but i am going to be getting the 72 an need to no if there the same ratio with out pulling the covers or could be any way

    My guess would be the '72 had 3.73 and the '79 had 3.54. They seem to be popular gears for those years.
