I have a buick :v6: cj5 and am in the process of rebuilding and the next step i am coming to is fuel.... i looked at gas, about 1000$ once i get carb pump tank.. then saw the benifits of using propane with the fact that it wont stall or lose power on an angle. so hmmm jeep off road maby.....still around 1000$..
wondering if any one has tried this on the :v6: .
i heard you loose some power...
    idk, any input will help...

I'm working on switching my 225 over to propane decided it was alot easier than going to efi. I am worried about finding propane but it is going to be a trailer queen. I currently looking up information on what affect it will have on the engine. I thought about uping my compression ratio on the 225 to about 11:1 to get the power back and it will run fine off propane. Not sure if I really want to go through that much trouble since I just rebuilt the engine 2000 miles ago.

No experience w/ jeeps and propane but I pulled goosenecks w/ 3-200 gal tanks full of water and fish for Texas Parks and Wildlife in Chevy and Dodge 1 tons running propane in 454 V8s and 8.0L V10s and they ran fine. There was a little power loss w/ the propane but I doubt if you could notice it in a CJ. Propane burns a little hotter than gas and tends to melt the electrodes on regular spark plugs which was part of the power loss. After we switched to platinum plugs it wasn't near as bad. Availability of propane was never a problem. It can be found at most moving centers (U-haul, etc.), truck stops, and larger gas stations/convenience stores. Good luck w/ whichever way you go.:v6:
