I asked Napa for spark plugs for my 231 odd fire that run a little bit hotter than the Autolite 666 plugs I currently have. They sold me AC Delco Rapidfire #4. The shank is a lot longer than the Autolites so it's going to seat deeper in. Is this okay or is this the wrong plug for my V6?
    Thanks.

I wouldn't think any plug could be hotter than a 666  R) . Sorry, couldn't resist. That looks like the wrong plug. You wouldn't want that thing seated any deeper than the factory depth. There's a good possibility your pistons would get a nice divot the first time you crank it over. Don't what that plug fits, but I'm pretty sure it's not your engine.

X2. Do you have any idea what your engine came out of?

That looks wrong. The Delco number should be a 2.

I haven't actually checked the engine origin by using the engine number yet, but the guy I bought it from just said it was a 1977 Buick 232 odd-fire.
I'll get the number off it and research it.

Okay. Engine number is 1254083 which shows to be a '77 (or'78 ) Even fire 231. Huh, I always thought it was an odd-fire. That's what the seller told me anyway. It is from a Jeep though, so that should help me with getting the right plugs (and other parts).

I'll swap those out for the #2. Thanks guys.

MPC It can't be from a Jeep. Has to be GM. Why do you want a hotter plug?

They gave me plugs for a straight 6. I returned those for the Bosch 7587. Thanks for the Napa link MOP. But now I don't know if it is a resistor plug or not?? I wanted to switch for two reasons, to get resistors and I thought I'd try a little bit hotter (or better burning) plug cause my Autolites are kinda black, like their not burning clean.
    Jeep is running fine though.

Yeah, I'm not super unhappy with the ones I hade, but I do want resistors to help reduce CB static, so I thought I'd give something else a try.
