    Hey guys/gals,

After I pulled the frame out from under the Jeep this weekend, I found a boo-boo that looks like it's going to be a pain to fix. It's a '55, so it has the early style C shackles with the threaded bushings. Problem is it looks like 3 of the 4 frame inserts (the part of the frame the bushings thread into) are hogged out. Does anyone make a weld in replacement? Anyone else ever tried to fix this? I don't really want to convert to an H shackle...I'm trying to keep it original. Without grinding all the crud out of thoes areas, it's hard to tell if the frame was damaged at all, but it looked like it was ok. Anyone know if the original threaded inserts were pressed in or welded? Grrr.

4WD.com lists the complete replacement kit under their "vintage" catalog.Shackle Kit, Right Thread, M38A1, 1953-68
    Part #: 928764
Shackle Kit, Right Thread, M38A1, 1953-68 Larger View
    Only $16.99 Qty.
Add To Wish List IIRC, the threaded part is welded in to the frame. Then the bushing part screws into it? If your frame inserts are boogered up you'll hafta replace them, also they are left and right hand thread depending on which side you're on. I found it easier to replace mine with a urethane bushing and "H" type shackles.
