I am looking to build a tow bar or just finding stuff to fab with the new welder. I have to make it look like a prudent investment. But I wanted to check to see if anyone has some plans and/or measurements for one. I am not sure of the angles and am thinking that it should not matter much as long as there is a wide base to the triangle. Let me know if anyone has done this in the past.

Lots of good discussions around this in the past - try searching on "towbar".

    Not to ruin your fun..but.
This might be a cheaper easier route.
I found one for 50.00 bucks at a RV repair /store.
They tend to have used ones laying around.
    Mine was worth 150.00 new.
The good news is I need to weld tabs on my bumper so it still will be a project.:)

if you do decide to build your own stay away fram angle iron for your triangle,in a hard brake it will fold up, use something such as square tubeing it has more strength, and im my opinion there is no such thing as overkill would rather be built too heavy than in the ditch!

I see from your post that have a new welder. But the big question is, are you new to welding. If you are, I'd recommend having a certified welder do the tabs for the bumper. Getting good penetrating welds is pretty critical for a towbar. If one of them fails and it takes off on you, you could be in for some serious liability issues, not to mention possibly ruining someone elses day. If you are new to welding, I'd recommend starting out with some projects that are a little less critical. I've seen welds that looked pretty good that gave up with a smack from a hammer. I've been welding as a hobby for about 2 years, but anything to do with steering, braking or towing I have a certified welder take care of. I don't mean to be preachy, just helpful.

Making one a little longer will only increase your turing radius, but shouldn't cause any major problems that I can think of. What is you "idea"? Or are we going to have to make one up for you? hahahaha!
