    Finally got the thing delivered.

    http://s148.photobucket.com/albums/s22/1964cj6/

It currently has a sbc and no radiator. Vin 841010288. I've got some work to do  Despite all of the issues, my first priority is to remove the doorknob from the passenger door and replace it with a piece of wire, or atleast something from another vehicle.

What is the hole in the hood? I thought maybe exaust, but I've never seen a jeep with exaust from the hood.

Microbrake? I am unable to find it in the my limited jeep libary.

The transfer case (no picture) seems to have 2 shifters, one of which is broke (the smaller one). I'm going to assume its a Dana 18. I don't understand the 2 shifter. Even after reading:

Of the two shifters, the left is for 2wd/4wd, and the right is for high range/low range. Use 2wd for normal driving, 4wd/high for normal driving in snow/ice/mud/slippery stuff, and 4wd/low for the really slow crawling where you need great traction but not a lot of speed.

I think the doorknob is kinda cool!

Microbrake is an after market valve that holds pressure on the brake system. Used as a short term park brake. The two shifters on the transfer case are:
left shifter: two wheel drive in forward position, neutral in middle, 4x4 to the rear
Right shifter: low range to the front, high range to the rear

What Sparky said about the hood. Snorkel cutout leftover from the M38a1. Nickmil

I'm curious as to the passenger side fuel fill, and the driver's side blanked off. Original or add on? Also the diesel tag, was it originally a diesel?

I would replace the door handle with a dead bolt so you could lock it. R) I like the JEEP.

The Jeep was given to my by my father-in-law. He refused to take any money...but thats a whole 'nother story.

He got it from his brother. His brother had the 350 and other 'stuff' done in california. According to what I could find on based on the VIN and the decal on both fenders, it did come out with a Perkins 192 I4 Diesel engine.

As far as the fuel tank or any othe parts, I have no clue. Alot of my research this week has been trying to figure out if the drive train minus the motor is stock. I'm trying to read up on my own so I don't have to flood the board with previously asked questions.

As far as the gas tank goes specifically; if anyone would happen to have a key to this aftermarket gas cap, it would sure come in handy. R)

Mine had one of those on it when I got it. The first thing I did after paying the man was rip off the locking tab on the gas cap.

To use your mico brake, turn the switch on, push brake pedal down and the brakes will stay applied, to release the brakes, turn switch off and push brake pedal again and the brakes will release. It is an add on emergency brake, but works off your current hydraulic brakes and not cables.

For the pass door handle go to the hardware store and in the garage door hardware thay have handles that will fit the doors on the Meyers hard top. I did this to mine on all 3 doors but could not get keyed alike. ou might go to a garage door place and get keyed alike.

    And good looking JEEP

Is it possible that your father-in-law's brother still has the original Perkins diesel engine? Or it's "laying around" somewhere? That would be a great score, if you could snag it!

Nope, the swap took place out in Cali. We, jeep included, are in Oklahoma. The jeep has been here for atleast 10 years.
