My 73 CJ5 has a bearing problem. They sound horrible and very rough. I removed the two nuts and washers and using a puller tried to remove the hub assembly but it won't budge. Is there something I am overlooking? Could the bearings become rusted onto the spindle and hub and I just am not applying enough force? I want to get to the u-joints because they have a lot of free play and appear bad. While I am workingon this what else should I replace. Thanks

Dumpert, you're on the right track.

IIRC, pull the nuts and washers.... if you're in that far then I guess you got the c-ring out of the groove on the end of the axle... did you get the locking hub off?
If so then the hub should just pull off the spindle. The outer race may be stuck, or even galled onto the spindle (inner might be too).
Maybe someone will post up a diagram for you... or look in a 4WD Hardware or Quadratec catalog, they often have a diagram...
