Windshield wiper issue

OK,

My second post today about problems found when it rains.

My windshield wipers swing too far to the passenger side and then bind up. I can ususally get a minute or two of use before they bind. Once they flop over too far I have to get out and grab the wiper and pull it back into position.

I thought that the wiper blade was rotating on the shaft that comes out of the windshield fram, but this is not the case.

How do I fix this?

if they are "flopping" over all the way and getting stuck try taking them off and "re=center" them...

one he wipers are off run he motor... see how it turns everything without the wipers

if thats not the fix could be a linkage issue... it was a PITA for me to repalce my linkages 'cause nobody makes the replacemnet for the '75 older CJ's anymore.... the '76 up parts are a little longer :?

 

I've tried recentering. I'm sure that it is a linkage issue, I just don't know what to do about it...

Like you said, parts for the linkage are hard to find.

 

oh yeah... and if you try to fab your own, you gotta deal with exact length, the "sleeve" has to be perfect where it mounts over the stud, then you take a chance of it breaking the stud on the wiper motor.

i called a million places and had no luck with a new part. i got a used one for $40.00 and the gas to drive 2hrs away. call this guy
