Heres' a pic of my skid plates. Putting the '79 tub on my early frame, allowed me to suck the auto trans and tcase way up. What do ya think?

Well done! Is the tunnel taller in a later CJ? What was it about the tub that allowed you to get the guts up higher? I'm building a frame now and will be looking for a tub in the future.

Hehe thanks! 3/16" plate, didn't want to skimp.
The tunnel on the later cj5 tubs is much larger and humps up higher. So I hiked the engine and correspoding drive train up about 3 1/2".

Thanks all. I saw something like this on TJ once but never thought I'd be able to get mine up completely flush. You'll noitce the 1" poly spacer blocks between the frame and skids.

As far as the "bomb proof", I figure since I don't have any ribs/bends to help stiffen the plates I better go a little thicker than 10 gage.

I'm thinking about building some rocker guards and want to stay with the diamond plate look (match my corner guards). Has anyone took 3/16 steel diamond plate and bent them under the tub back to the body mounts? I see that a lot of aftermarket places are doing this with flat plate.
    Thanks again,
    Ty
