HELP with gear box 69 Commando V6 Auto

    Pulled my steering gear box. Worm gear looks good. No matter how much I tighten it there is about a 1/4" of play at the adler arm? Is this OK? The Jeep really wanders all over the road. I checked out alignment and all tie rods are tight. Box says GEMMER 24JC01. Re-build kits available? Thanks Ralph, New Jersey

    The Jeepsterman in NJ http://www.thejeepsterman.com should have parts to rebuild. Hows the rest of the steering like the drag link, bell crank etc? Any little bit of play in those is magnified about 5 times per pivot point.

    There is a rebuilt steering box, listed on Ebay,under Jeep Commando parts now. Might be worth a shot.
