engine swap

    I tried to put my 225 buick v6 from my cj5 with standaerd trans into my 71 commando that had a v6 and th 400 auto trans.But when i put it together the engine would not turn to bolt torque converter to flywheel.It was to tight(I did remove the pilot bearing)anything I can do to get this to work.

    I'm no expert, but....
    are you sure the torque converter was fully engaged (seated) onto the oil pump of the trans ?

    That would be my guess too. Best cross your fingers that it didn't break the pump gear.
    Just a last minute thought and I'm not sure it's even possible to do it because of the bolt pattern, but is the flexplate on backwards?

    Did you remove the standard flywheel and replace with the auto flexplate?
