O.K. folks, its finally almost nearly time to consider maybe potentially re-assembling the Tonkster :).

    To a certain extent

Believe-It-Or-Not there were a couple of things I either didn't document during the diss-assembly or threw away the pertinent pieces

So, if anyone could send me a pic detailing how the tailgate latch doo-hickey is affixed to the tailgate surround/rear panel I'd appreciate it.

I also need the locations of the holes in the driver's side door sill that the early model seat bolts to, referenced to the center of the door mount hole or a pic with a tape measure would work. Are there captive nuts under the holes?

    Thanks,

    H.

It appears you've got one of those earlycj5 thingies Howard. Not too popular around here, might want to try Pirate4x4. R)

This is from my 61. Need measurements? Spec and holler. Door sill pic is not good (paralax shift). 9 3/4 from center of door pin opening to center of center hole of seat mount. No captive nuts; mine are bolted into a strip of small bar stock. The front bolt in the pic holds the bar stock in place when the seat is out. HTH

Howie, I know I already dun told you on the phone, but for the record (in case someone else needs to melt down their Jeep, pour the metal to make sheet metal, and then build the body from scratch and shady specs from other users), it was 10" from center of door pivot to center of first seat hole, 3 holes, 1" apart, each with welded nuts under them. :flag:

Thanks Buddy, Nice to See You Back!

FY (& everybody else's) I under the rolled lip in the doorways theres a reinforcing "U" channel, looks like the factory economized on this piece because the one on the passenger side has the 3 holes drilled in it just as you described them.

I've added the 3-hole welded nuts / 4 holes tapped plate to my "Tub Funnies" list, maybe someday I'll find out when the change occured :).

Sorry, fellas; my bad, again. On mine, it is 10 and 3/4 center to center, pivot to middle hole. Got in a hurry when I shot and posted.

Outta curiosity Stu, do you have the one piece seats/frames or the separate seats/frames? According to what [I've read here & elsewhere the "separates" started in '64, which is when I would have expected the mounting hole spacing to be changed.

OMG Howard! Mine doesn't have the reinforcing U-channel! Oh, and on your "tub funnies" listing, what is a "tollbox"? Is that where you sink all of your money? Maybe we should all call it that! R)R)R)R)R)R)R)
Just kidding. Catch you later buddy.

Howard, I have 60/40's on one piece frames. The 70 has buckets on separate frame and seat mounts for the driver's side; what a pain compared to three bolts and out!

Just for reference, my '66 CJ-6 has the 60/40 w/ one piece frames. My 5a has the two piece adjustable 60/40 (Tux Park had those).
