Hi I am just about done rebuilding a buick 225 V6 motor. I just need to find the "fuel pump drive eccentric" and the "distributor drive gear" that are on the camshaft. I have had not luck at finding those part anywhere and once i have those I can start up the motor. If you know some where or someone i could find those parts from I would be very grateful. Thanks for the help!

Welcome aboard! Get ready for a bunch of welcomes and and bunch of "where's the pics?" :D If you would, update your location in your profile and toss in a pic of your Jeep!

Hopefully someone will have the parts you are looking for as I only have a complete unit. Dist parts can be a challenge to find.

Look into the holes that mount the fuel pump and distributor to see the eccentric and drive gear, respectively. The eccentric is just another lobe ground onto the camshaft which accentuates a "lifter like" rod that pushes the mech. fuel pump arm in and out. The drive gear is a helical gear machined near the front end of the camshaft. Be careful that when you install the distributor that it also engauges the oil pump dive at the bottom of the distributor shaft, e.g. the cam drives the distributor which in turn drives the oil pump.

If the gear and eccentric of of a 231 will work, I've got one.

you can try a GM dealer with these part numbers:

    1361789 fuel pump eccentric
    1361749 for dist drive gear

  7. Jim: I've been wondering about this for a while and figured that I'll ask now. In all the cams I've put into Chevys (a lot) the fuel pump eccrentic and dist drive gear were machined in, and part and parcel of, the cam itself. Like Tony T said. They were not separate parts that mounted on the cam. Are the :v6: different in this respect? :?

You guys are awesome! Thanks for all the responses. Are those parts numbers for a 225? that just seem to easy  if so that would make things so much easier and relieve the stress of having to find it. Also I need to know how to get a picture up for me. Could someone tell me how to do that. Thanks for all you help. This site is outstanding!

oldjeep, I am looking into seeing if those part for the 231 will work. If so I am very interested if I cannot get the parts from the parts # from the GM dealer.

I just took a look at it and they won't. On the 231 parts I have 1985 231, the gear is part of the timing gear which bolts to the camshaft with 2 bolts. It is very different than the 225 piece. Maybe on an older 231 they are the same, but definitly not on the one i have

Sorry, but if you put a post in the wanted section, I'll bet someone can help you out.

    Welcome to the board Stephen.
First thing is you can use the eccentric and drive gear from a 231 odd fire but the even fire had the gear machined on the cam.
You should be able to call Leon Rosser Jeep in Bessemer, Alabama, if he doesn't have any in stock he should be able to get one or tell you where you can get one. You can also check TA Performance they are Buick specialists and will have them in stock I'm sure. They are located on the web, just type in TA performance and check them out.

Not surprising that the one number might be discontinued. Other members here have other great ideas. Just keep looking and trying; you will come up with them sooner or later.
