Is this a Willy's Overland Hardtop?

And would it be the same as this one I found near me on CL mounted to a '73?

Looks like the same top as on the Super Jeep in the picture. Wonder how the door slides back though over the fender flare?

those are not the same tops. In teh B&W picture the handlw is on the front of the door towards the windshield, on your yellow jeep the handle is in the back by the fuel filler.

Ya don't suppose a handle could be moved do you? The tops look identical in every other respect. The yellow Super Jeep has mirrors mounted to the front of the doors where the handle is on the early Jeep, maybe they moved the handle to make room for the mirrors.

Sure looks like it's the same. The handle does appear in a different spot on the '73 though.

WO (Kaiser) didn't make tops though. They were aftermarket only.

I don't think that's quite right Sparky, I'm not sure who made them but the tops pictured were a factory option, they're in the FSM & the 3B page has a good write up on'em,

I had the top and had the handle on the rear. It is an odd top. I think it was made for postal jeep becuase the door can slide back. The rear of the top, the hatch goes up and in and locks in place. it was really cool because you could drive around with teh rear hatch up, made having it in florida easier to handle.

I said Willys and Kaiser didn't make tops.

The article you linked too next to the picture of a top like this says:
So available through dealers but not made by Willys it looks like. But then we knew that hard tops were sold through dealers anyway.

I'll be more clear next time as aftermarket has a different connotation than what I meant. :)

I have a 62 with the same top as in the black and white picture. I was told that it was ordered from the facory that way (not saying the factory did or did not make it). Anyhow its kinda nice that the doors slide in the back and u can drive like that. it also has some kind of brace and hold up thing in the back for the rear tailgate ( I havent looked at it to much as the darn winch is in the way)
I didnt see that top in any of the links, did I miss it?

Maybe someone put hinges on the doors since as mentioned the flares would interfere. That would explain the handle too.

I have had those tops with swinging, and sliding doors, I assume you could get them either way.

I had always believed that the tops were dealer installed , but the cj5 i am working on right now has me wondering.
This jeep never had the rear top bow tubes, I see no sign of them.

I have also observed that if the doors slide the outside mirror stays on the windshield hinge, if the door swings the mirror is moved to the boss on the cowl.
