I've put a 1997 Chevy S-10 tilt steering column in my 74 cj5. The only thing I need to connect (electrical) is the blinkers. The ignition is not in the column, it is mounted in the dash. I understand the wiring on the jeep side, but I cannot figure out the wiring of the column. I've tested continuity between every possible combination of the wires coming out of the blinker/wiper/light harness, but it seems that none of them 'connect' when positioning the blinker switch in either right or left position. The only continuity I can find is when engaging and disengaging the hazzard. Seems the orange wire is the power INTO the column (hot all the time based on the S-10 lighting schematic), and the hazzard switch sends that out through one of the lighter green wires. I removed the ignition switch housing (key switch is not there) from the column and there does not seem to be any electrical connections in there. I thought that maybe since that is disabled, there was nothing to bring the power over to the blinker switch when the key would normally be turned on. Does anyone have any insight as to how this wiring should be connected? I specifically need to know which wire in the column I should connect the power source from the jeep side to, in order to be able to activate the blinkers.

    Thanks,
    Steve

What I have is for 82-93 may be same:
    purple - turn flasher in
    brown - hazard in
    white - brake in
lt blue - left front turn and indicator
    yellow - left rear turn/brake
dk green - right rear turn/brake
dk blue - right front turn and indicator

Hope this helps, info isn't from fsm so may not be totally accurate but I used it on an older s-10 and it worked.
