Hey everyone. I need to get my windshield hinges off and am wondering how they attach to the frame. Are the hinges held onto the frame by the 3 or so bolts running through them into the frame? Is it that easy to get them off?

    Thanks,
    Scott

The top portion of the hinge has two bolts on the front and three screws under the rubber seal. Once removed you will have to bang them out. If the frame is crap, heat it and that should help.

I dont know what type fastener you have on your windshield hinges but I have the large phillips head type on mine, If you have the screw type and they dont come out right away ( hinge to body screws ) real easy take some WD40 to them from under the dash, while that is soaking in find a large phillips bit ( I think its a #4 ) that you can adapt to turn with a ratchet. Take the time to grind it down so it fits good and does not bottom out in the screw, Then get one of your friends to help push on the ratchet head to hold it in place. Almost ruined two of mine.
Hope this helps, Good luck to you.

Might also think about using a hand held impact driver. I bought mine at one of those Harbor Freight Chinese Tractor Trailer Traveling Tool Sales for about $10. (live in the sticks) Handy little item.

I soaked mine with PB Blaster for a week or so. Gave them a little squirt each day. Then used some vice grips. I was afrade any impace to the screws would damage the frame. But my frame is one of the vented and in my world is irrepacleable.

    Worked great.

my windshield frame was self-removing....that being that it was so rusted that it actually fell apart at the hinges.....the only thing holding it up is the steel hard top.....
