Hey there, I found a 1980 231 EF distributor at the local yard and was wondering if there are any key identifing characteristics (such as a serial number, etc.) which will tell me that I have the proper distributor. Can someone also confirm for me that the following are key identifying characteristics: 1) a 4 pin module and 2) a vaccum mechanical advance?
    thanks,
    J

Planning to do the conversion to an OF distributor?

If so, yes you need a four pin module, the computer controlled units aren't useful for that.

Hey Sparky, ya the 1984 231 engine I got has the computor dizzy and the funky dual jet carb. So I was going to change out dizzy to a 1980 unit and rebuild the Rochester 2g orginal to my blown 225 block. Any suggests about the
rebuild of the carb, I have the Napa #. Just any things to look out for when rebuilding the carb or this swap.
    Thanks J

Oh, OK. I looked at the Jeep specs and saw a 225 I thought you were converting to that.

Now I see where you're going.

Nothing I can think of to watch out for. The 2G is a very simple rebuild.

Maybe check the pickup coil in the HEI, make sure it's in good shape. Replacing mine made a world of difference.

the original 2 g carb for the 225 v-6 will not fit on the dual jet manifold unless you have some type of an adapter or an after market manifold and then you will most likely still need an adapter for the 2 barrel carb to the 4 barrel intake that are avalible in the after market. i think all after market manifolds are only offered in the 4 barrel style.

Where did you find the adapter to mount the 2g on the dual jet manifold. firefighter mike could never find one so we finally found a mechanical dual jet to replace the computer one before I made an adapter.

Hey thanks for getting back, the carb spacer is an orginal J& threequarter made "patent pending". LOL I was going to use a piece of 3/4 flat stock aluminun and drill out the 2 barrels and tap for stud bolts for the 2g carb and make up the gasket. J
