What should my Idle RPM's be for my 71 V6 225? They are ranging around 1000 to 1200 at idle no matter if the engine is warm or not....:flag:

I've got something somewhere that says 650 as well I thought.

Mine will idle down at 500 RPM in the summer.

My underhood decal says 650rpm, I set mine at 700 rpm. 650rpm makes the engine idle a little to rough.

    Front of the carburetor.

Yes, tune it with a vacuum gauge like any other engine. Mine for sure runs better being tuned in that fashion.

Also note that you need to be slow idle 650-700 to set timing. If that is not correct it can keep your RPM's high. Carb adjustments are to be made (should be) with vacuum gauge at slow idle. I think i'm correct. If not, I'll hear about it. he he.

    Yep.

    Could be timeing combined issue.
I would look for vacume leak first get that out of the way.

If still too high then back off the dissy abit and see if it goes down.
Should then adjust carb abit till you can low idle.
Then set timeing. then adjust carb again till best low idle and vacume setting.
    IMHO shadetree mech.:)
