I have an F 134 block, head, oil pump, water pump, valve cover, gen., crankshaft, and some other parts. I would like to build a new engine for my cj5. The engine parts I have came from a 1968 cj.

I found a complete engine from a 48 cj with trans, transfr case, diff, and both drive shafts for 300 dollars very near by. My question is: will all the accessories fit from the L head onto the F head? including the transmission, and starter, carburetor, generator, etc...

The engine was running well when they pulled it out. Is all this worth 300 dollars? I'm thinking its a good deal. ?

The F-head and the L-head engines are close cousins, but there are some significant differences such as bellhousings, starters, flywheels, valvetrain, carburetors, etc.

I would look for a complete F-head engine and rebuild that if it were me. Honestly, tracking down all those missing parts, bolts and miscellaneous doo-dads just isn't worth the hassle IMHO. The F-heads aren't exactly rare. ;)

I'm with Steve, wouldn't be worth the effort. Another option would be find out what machine work is needed for the block and crank you have, and then price the internals needed to complete the job.

If the L heads in good shape, with drivetrain $300 is a great deal, I'd grab it. You could always sell the parts seperatly, and make a few $ Then you could come buy one of my F heads, I have two one with a new starter.:)
