I have a 71 with 10" drums. The PO removed all of the self adjuster rod's and hardware leaving only the star adjuster. I feel it would be much safer to have all the hardware for the self adjuster's to do what they are designed to do. I have a line on one set, so here is my question. I have found adjuster hardware for 1978 and later 10" drums. The only difference I see is that the later model's have narrower shoe's. Would a self adjuster kit from a 1978 and later CJ work in my 71 with 10" x 2"?

I not sure but I think that the returns springs are different & attached to the shoes through a hole in the brake shoe instead of a hook on the brake shoes '71 & prior

From what I see yes the hardware is different. The 71 has what appears to be spring steel at the star adjuster, and use's two metal rods. The 78 and later has a stamped steel bottom mount and use's cable's instead of the rods. My big problem is finding the 71 style with the rods and srping steel. Seems they aren't available.

I'll see if I still have my old parts as I've converted to 11"

I have two of the spring steel pieces that attach to the adjusting star & one bolt/bracket that holds the adjusting rods and two of the rods. Surley some others members can dig up one more braket & some more rods at least enough to do the front brakes
