On my 77' CJ5, my steering coloum has a couple of bearings that are out, one just in the engine compartment passed the firewall and one down on the steering pump. Has any body ever replaced these or know where to get the bearings??

I have a tilt column that I tired to rebuild. It was a real PIA. I found a dude on ebay that rebuilds them for $100. I'll be sending mine to him.

To much agervation to mess with.

U joints on the steering shaft? Not a big deal, just like ujoints on a drive shaft. Knock them out, knock them in.

I just ran into this same issue. The steering was the only thing left untouched. Finally, on the last offroad run i blew out the bearings in the engine compartment. Also, the tie rod ends were blown as well. It was much easier and cheaper for me to find new tie rod ends and a decent used column and replace the whole thing....
