Might have found my problem with the m38. The head gasket seems to have gone south. I dont have my manuals with me can someone give me the torque specs for the head bolts along with the pattern?

    60 - 70 footlbs in steps, like maybe 40; 50; 60; 70.

1st headbolt is the one in the center, 2nd is to it's right (with the sparkplug holes on your side of the engine - the carb side), 3rd is to #1's left. 4th is at 6 o:clock, 5th at 12. 6th is at 7 o:clock, 7th is at about 1 o:clock, 8th is at 5.
9th is at 11:00, 10th is all the way over at 9 o:clock. 11th is lower lefthand corner, 12th is all the way over at 3 o:clock. 13th is upper righthand corner, 14th is lower righthand corner and last but not least 15th is upper leftthand corner.

Actually, looking at the pictures in the Chilton's They are nuts on studs.

Hope you can follow what I'm saying.
