My sons and I just bought 2 68 Jeepsters, they are the same, 225 dauntless, 400 auto tranny and stock. Here is what we want to do and this is where all you can assist:

We want to keep the engine tranny combo.

the modifications we would like to do are:
    install saginaw power steering,
lift and respring (looking at Hell Creek Suspensions)
replace the front drive line with a one piece constanct volocity shaft,
    Install front disc brakes,
replace the 10" backs with 11",

    Can all this be done?

I'd like any and all comments on things you believe that are "must does" to these Jeepster

Will headers interfere with the power steering?

Is it worth the time and money to install a performance cam and manifold? (looking for low to midrange power)

Can overdrives be installed with the auto?

My only Jeep experience I have is with a 42 flat that I put a SB ford in, did the Saginaw manual steering and overdrive.

    Thanks in advance

Heck yeah! I'm doing the same thing to my 70 right now, that is, installing the power steering- It has already been lifted, but I am also looking at the Hell Creek springs to replace the work that the PO did. I want to do the disc brakes also, but I am doing one project at a time. Don't know about the CV shaft though (?)...

    Oh, I almost forgot

    :uwop:

Use the photobucket site and link back here, that way you don't have to resize them for attachments.

You more than likely have a D30 rear so ditch the front and rear diffs for a D44 rear and a D30 out of a Bullnose ;). Easier to up grade the front to disc and they come with 11" in the rear. You could do CJ front and rear too although D44 are kind of hard to find in a CJ.
There are a couple of OD units out there but they're kind of rare, only ever saw five or six on a D20 TC, never seen one in person.
