Here's some pics of the new front bumper. My main reason for wanting to build another bumper was to sink the M8274 down in-between the framerails. For the past 10 years or so, we had the winch mounted on top of the bumper so most of the grill was blocked. Even though we never experienced any major overheating problems, I just always wanted to lower the winch for a cleaner look. Overall, the winch was lowered about 5 1/2." Also, I wanted to incorporate different mounting points that could be used as both clevis mounts as well as points to mount the tow bar.

Really nice! How did you actually mount the winch when you lowered it?

Bob could you post photos of the actual mount and bumper. It looks like you made the bumper and I would be interested to see how it is reinforced.

    Thanks

    Mike

It's bolted to a piece of 1/4" plate that is welded and notched 1" into the bumper.

    Hi Mike,

Sure, I'll post some pictures. It may be a day or so (work has been crazy), but I'll get some.

    Thanks.

    Hey Mike,

It's a piece of 4"x 2" rectangle tubing and we cut windows out of the backside just enough to slip the bumper over the frame horns. We thought about adding "L" brackets at the corners of the bumper/frame, but we're not sure if we're going to.

One last question. The winch plate that you indented 1 inch, I can see you cut the top of the tube but did you cut all the way down or is the plate resting on the bottom inside of the tube, if this doesn't make sense let me know.

    Thanks

    Mike

    Hi Mike,

Sorry for the delayed reply. It's 3/16" thick. As for the winch plate, both the top and bottom of the rectangle tube were cut out all the way down 1 inch.
