O.K. I've only seen it once in pictures but I looking for anyone that might have done a folding windshield modification to a Jeepster. I miss that option that I once had with my CJ2A. Looks like it would be a fairly straight forward modification. What would be the best way to secure the windshield in the up position and hold it securly down?
I couldn't come up with anyt hink on my search.

    Thanks

Trickpatrick posted a picture of a guy who did one, but I don't know anything more about it. Looks like it shouldn't be too hard to do.

Wow... I always seem to miss these threads!

After riding with a couple CJ buds offroad, I fell in love with "no windsheild"... it just makes the experience. OTOH, I've rarely folded it since... usually just pull the pins and take the whole frame off! :D

I copied "389Jeepster"s mod somewhat. I started with modifying some galv. strap hinges to allow the leafs to lay flat (actually pulled the pins, spun 1 leaf, and tweaked it in a press). From there it was cut to fit across the windsheild frame, drilled/countersunk and bolted with flatheads to the 2 outboard locations. It fits "OK", but without major work relieving the WS frame, will leave a gap of a few 1/16ths in the gaskets (no biggy for some of us).

To answer the OP's question... you could add the CJ hardware (little vinyl clad ubolts & footman) to keep it strapped down. I normally fold mine down for towing (some folks see a +1MPG doing this) and secure it down with bungee to keep it from bouncing. As stated, unless there's eminent threat of rain, will leave it laying on the trailer...
