For those of you that may know, here's a brain teaser for you. Will the narrow track axles and driveline from say a 1965 CJ fit on a '71-'75 CJ frame?? I'm refering to spring mounts and cross members being the same where it's just a matter of bolting these items inplace. I know....I know , I'm a PITA for asking but humor me........Do you know what it's like to have a bunch of parts that are in great shape and all you want to do is use them? that's where I'm at right now. I'm in the middle of a frame up resto on my '75 and someone gives me this entire driveline and F-head engine. I'm gonna build something out of these parts. I thought it would be a good wrenching project for my youngest son to tinker with while I finish my project. He's 19 and needs to learn something about Jeeps since he bought a '98 Wrangler. One day he'll see the light and get rid of that new stuff.

    Later............

The '65 axles should bolt onto the 71-75 frame without mods. The axle mounting-to-frame locations didn't change until the '76 model year.
Note that the 72-75 will be 3" longer in the engine bay area, modified by AMC to accomodate the AMC engines.

    Thanks.........

    Hey Lynn,

Thanks for the info. It seems that we won't have much of a problem putting something togather once I find a pre-75 frame.

    cheers...........
