I am trying to figure out what the PO had done to my CJ's wiring situation. The PO had installed an aux heater that is mounted under the divers seat. This has a 12V Delco blower motor that I have removed and verified as working. The wiring is a mess for this aftermarket addition.

Where do I need to tie in to the power for this blower motor? Since looking at the wiring situation, I have noticed an aftermarket cigar lighter that was installed and wired through the firewall directly to the battery. I have since removed this since it is not needed and wasn't stock.

Could I run an 18 AWG wire from the battery through the firewall to a switch then from the switch to the blower motor? Thanks for the help on this guys.

Yeap that would do it. You definitly want to put an inline fuse in there near the battery tho. They have them at autozone for 2 or 3 bucks.

Thanks for the clarification Strider380. I ended up finding an unused jumper coming off the I (ignition) post on the fuel gauge. From what I have gathered through reading, this gives 12V unregulated. The A post gives the regulated 5V to the temperature gauge. This worked fine for what I needed it to. I routed this to the factory fan switch and then just used the high setting to turn on my blower. Do I still need to put a fuse inline from the fuel gauge to the switch? If so what amperage?

Just got back from a test drive with the wife and dog and it worked great for the ambient temperature out right now being 40F. This is going to allow me to drive the CJ some back and forth to work this winter. Now all I need is a little snow to make everything fun. Thanks again.
