I have taken my Ross sterring box and am in the process of rebuilding it.

I have a part that I seem to be having trouble finding as it was bend badly during removal by PO. It is a 6" to 8" tube that comes out of a washer looking piece in the end of the housing. Looks to me that the worm shaft prolly goes over it once installed.

I will be getting these parts from Walcks4wd once I find out where that shaft can be picked up.

TIA for the help..... :) :coffee:

    I have the parts book.
If you wish, I can scan the drawing and the parts list. That way you will know what you need.
Have you tried "Northstar Willys" for parts?

Pics would help. When you say the end of the housing do you mean the bottom? There's a horn switch that screws on to the bottom of the housing and I'm wondering if it's related to that. My horn has a mechanical switch but I think a newer setup may have involved a "tube" or conduit with wiring to the switch?

If you have a way to scan and email that I'd really appreciate it. MY jeep service manual a blow-up of the steering box. I'll look at that tonight and post up what it calls it out as being..

The tube you are referring to acts as a conduit for the horn wiring. If it is not bent too badly, I would just gently restraighten it. They get bent pretty easily when you disassemble the box. All it is there for is to protect the horn wiring from getting caught in the sector shaft/ wormshaft area and keep the wiring out of the oil in the gearbox. I haven't found one anywhere that anyone carries but think I remember a thread somewhere on here where a guy made a new one out of a piece of 1/4 in tubing.

If it is the tube for the horn wire it is made of unobtainium, look for used ones or repair the one you have.

My service manual calls that part out as a tube and cam. Looks like I'll be trying rebuild it. or fix it somehow....

That tube thing is available from "Willys Jeep Parts" (Jungle Jim).
May also be available from "Willys America".
