ok this time i was wondering how far i should stretch my wheelbase for my 75 cj5. what is a good all around wheelbase? as stated in my last thread i plan on doing some sort of 4 link suspension on it but i figure i will be under there so why not extend the wheelbase while im at it, im going to have to make new drivelines anyway so what could it hurt eh?

I didn't see your previous thread so I don't know the entirety of your plan, like what body and frame you will be using or the purpose of this project. A four-bar suspension hints at more than a trail rig. Performance wise, I'm not sure what you'd need for an adequate rock hopper, if that's your direction. However, it seems the limiting factor to lengthening your wheelbase would be where the tires fit in the fender wheel openings. If you don't care how that looks, then I'd suggest you think about building your own body, which would allow you to adjust things as you wish.

    Just a thought ... ;)

100-110 is a great allround wheel base, only prob is on a CJ5 it looks kinds silly having the rear wheels stretched so far back. If it were me Id move the rear axle so the back of the tire was about 2-3 behind the rear bumper

First, get a YJ. They respond better to stretching and have a stronger frame to start. Besideds, if you cut up a YJ, it's not big deal. If you cut up an early cj, folks will cry.

All seroiusness, the YJ is a better starting point for a rock crawler.

    I would get a CJ 6 or a Jeepster allready at 101:)

X2 on the cj5 stretch looks goofey.
If you want advice on chopping up a 5 you would be better served on pirate.
    No offence at all but...
Around here I think most like old stuff thats modded but not so much chopped up.:)

But its yours to do as you please.
