While installing a new coil in the HEI I stripped out the cap. The coil is held down by 4 screws and the last one I went a bit too far. My questions are- does someone manufacture a cap that doesn't use screws but nuts and bolts to hold down the coil? Are caps interchangable between manufacturers? Are there better caps than others? I think all my starting problems are due to this HEI. Thanks for any info.

Marc: I think your only option is a new cap. Checker sells Borg Warner caps approved by Nascar that are a bit tougher than the standard GM caps. They have all brass contacts in them instead of AL. Might try one of those.

Fill the hole with JB-Weld and re-drill it. Works like a champ! ;)
