I just shipped the second t-14 of my career. Both times I built a wooden box for it just for the "oops I dropped this 70 pound trans" I have seen what carboard looks like after being shipped and would not trust it or thise who handle it. Granted it took me a half hour to build it and a few screws and osb/2x4's but I think it was well worth it. I should have taken some pics. next time :).

The item being shipped dictates the manner of packing.
I have shipped glass by UPS, and it has arrived intact. I wrapped in 2" styrofoam, and built a crate out of 1 x 3 and 2 x 3, suspended the package in the crate, and wrapped the whole thing in cardboard.
Same thing with radiator, fan shroud, grille.
The shipping is not cheap, but it is the only way for the item to get there in one piece.
When I drop it off at UPS or FedEx, I usually tell them the only way that they can damage the contents is to drive the truck over it, and the reply is "They're not supposed to do that".

But they didn't say "That has never happened". R)

As a matter of fact they didn't.
Years ago I sent an optical instrument away for repair. It was returned by UPS.
The box had been set in water, and when someone picked it up, the contents fell through the bottom.
UPS delivered it while I was not home.
Took it to the depot and told them--"I don't care what you do with it, I am not accepting it". They sent it back, no questions asked.
