SM420 swap clutch problem

    Im trying to change my trans over to an sm420 but the splines on the input shaft dont seem to be long enough to clear the clutch I trimmed 1/2 inch off the bearing retainer shaft but now Im running out of splines on the thaft for the clutch to ride on is there a special clutch? Help

    More info on what year your Jeep is, what trans you had before, what bell housing your trying to use would allow us to provide some opinions about your problem.

    Among the possibles are: clutch disc in backwards, the long side of the center hub goes toward the tranny; wrong disc? The clutch disc doesn't have to move on the splines more than 1/8". And that's being generous. Need more info as noted above.
