Battery Tray Mystery(ies)

    O.K., Anybody know what the little "C" shaped slots in the battery tray are for???

    Also, the PO cut a big hunk outta the tray, possibly for alternator clearance.
    Can anyone provide me with a picture of the back side of an intact tray? I'd like to fix it if possible.

    Is "Tonka" a 4-cyl setup Howard? :) Doesn't look like the V6 variety.

    I believe the "C" shaped slots where actually tabs that stuck up to hold the battery in place. My guess is that they were bent back down to accomodate a larger battery.

    I think Jim's right on those tabs. I seem to remember wimpy has something to keep the battery from sliding around.

    Yup, should be a 4 cyl. I'd guess an alternator or something else like it that needed clearance.

    Tabs were for the battery to sit in.........

    Ditto. Tabs are for holding battery in place.

    if you dont have tabs does a bungy cord count??
