Well I've decided to throw the new 2.5 ltr between the frame rails, I'll finish up the wiring with the engine in place.

I think its stock stock height, but the spring packs do not look stock, so I got no idea. The tires are 31" and they are kinda tight height wise. Took a look at th espring packs, and they are five pack units front and rear.

I gotta build some frame mounts for the engine, the 2.5 is out of the YJ and sitting in front of the CJ5, hope to stab it in on Saturday.

Best laid plans, the engine didn't go in, I spent the time fitting the YJ power steering box, and mating the intermediate sahft to the column. I need to re-drill the pitman arm to fit the drag link end. Pulle dthe YJ fuel tank, as i'll use the stock fuel pump, and pulled the YJ hanging pedal assembly. I'm gonna do a wheel house notch (should have done that last year).

The shifter sits back nearly between the seats. Need to make the frame mounts and cross member mount for the transmission mount. I'm wondering how well the stock floor pans will bolt in?

Is this where the head scratching begins? Looks good so far.

I think I'm done head scratching, time to put blade and spark to metal. I figured out the driver's side frame mount, I need to put the stock Yj mount at about a 30 degree angle to clear the intermediate steering shaft. I can live with the shifter were its at. The trick is gonne be the D300 shifters. That passenger side frame mount will be real simple.
The engine is somewhat offset to the passenger side. But i have about 1 - 1.5" of clearance before the D300 hits the frame rail.

I think I'll home brew a set of twin stick shifters for the D300 and move them up ahead of the transmission shifter.

I will need to move my rear axle back some, I'm shooting for a 14" rear driveshaft, right now its about 12", and the angle is kinda steep. I'll have to lean the engine back to drop the driveshaft angle. I'm half tempted to pull the engine driven fan, I got plenty of room in front of the radiator to mount an electric fan there. Adn then I can move the engine forward some more.

Engine mounts are about 80% complete. Took the fan off, and will mount an electric fan in front of the radiator, that gives me about 3-4 more inches of rear driveshaft length.

Got the radiator mounts in, finished up getting the other grille in place. Finished mounting the YJ power steering unit and reamed out the pitman arm for the draglink. Pulled the dashboard off to mount the hanging pedal assembly. Re-installed the Summit heater. Got most of the electrical done, it'll be time to turn the key, but I need to rig up a gas tank, and work on the exhaust before I try to fire it up.

Got the master cylinder and clutch reservoir mount done with a plate on the firewall. Gonna have to shape, bend, cut/weld the YJ pedals so they don't hit the floor. Need to finish the mount from inside the cab, and tidy up a bit. Is mounting the the firewall good enough, or does anyone recommend using the plate the adds support to the cowl? I'm gonna use the stock ECJ5 steering column not the YJ one, nor from a later CJ.

I used a 1/8" plate on my firewall for the pedals, but I have a pretty stiff clutch. I think you'd be better off re-inforcing the firewall in case you have to stand on the brakes one day. My firewall flexes a little even with the plate.
