Do what McRuff initially said and drill and tap a hole. Even if the boss isn't there you can do it. Take it to a machine shop if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself. I can't see it costing more than 20 bucks. Make damn sure the tap is for a PIPE thread and not a standard thread.... The electic heater idea is something I would avoid.

You do have a Marine intake. (I have one just like that in my garage.) In that first picture, that port is for the choke tube. The second one is the temp sending unit. You could remove the sending unit and screw in a fitting. Then put a fitting in the water pump and there you go. "HEAT"

yeh i think thats why dad and i thought there was no port for heat, being that neither of us are very knowlegeable about chevy motors we just assumed that thats where the temp is being taken from. any idea what CFM the carb is? jegs has 2 holly 2barrles 250CFM and 500cfm. boy i hope tha that thing is not 500 cfm then it might need to be jetted WAY down.

Like was said, remove the reducing fitting in the second photo and replace it with a hose barb of the appropriate size. As for the other fitting there should be one on the water pump. I know the exhaust manifolds on marine engines are water cooled as well so there may be a port on the pump that was just for that purpose.

the motor is not a marine motor it came out of a 83 impala ( we think) . i was looking at my water pump tonight ( new still in the box) there is no fitting. i see a hole in it near the centerline of it but no fitting.

Every 12V "heater", I have ever seen was pathetic. Just not enough power even at the 25A they pull. You can hook up the hot water some how. The return isn't gonna be a problem. If needed you can change the water pump. The supply is more of an issue. Look around, the intake may have un-drilled bosses that you could tap out. ALso could change the intake if needed. If you could stand it, rip the entire heater out of a older Jap truck. It is about twice what the factory jeep heater could do. Good luck

Should be a hole for a fitting at the top of the water pump.

For that intake it took a rodchester 2bbl.

It looks to me as if the port is threaded and ready for the hose barb(?) already. Look at the top of the pump in the 2nd pic.

Dennis: I agree. But the top one is for the bypass hose. To the right of that is the threaded hole for the heater return.

Jeff: The threaded hole on top is for the bypass hose that goes to the intake manifold near the thermostat housing, NOT the heater return line. That line goes to the one on the left further down.
