I hope you have a bigger front axle than dana 25/27, they won't last long on average with tires that large.

dana 44's will handle 35's as long as they are flanged one piece axleshafts (for the rear). with the right amount of lift you should be able to tuck 35's, i still see them rubbing on 4 inches of lift. but your problem will become finding the right front D44 for your setup, i'm thinking most of the ones you'll find will be way too wide.

why run 35's? just get a cj7 dana 30 run smaller tires with a traction device in the carrier and maybe some beefier axle shafts. i know guys that run 35's on built dana 30s or you could throw a lunchbox locker in it and run 33's on stock shafts without too too much trouble.

at least that would be an easier axle to source and it will already be the right width, hell it might even bolt up. plus disc brakes.

I have never seen a CJ that did not appear to be top heavy with larger than 33 inch tires. I think that you start to get real loose on the safety to get larger tires on the platform. However so many will argue the issue.
I have wheeled for over 30 years and started when we considered 33s Real Meats. I run them now and like them but have wheeled jeeps on 335s and never like the raise in center of gravity it creates.
Even my TJ had, and My JK has 33s and I wheel down the same trails as everyone else out here in the west.

Interesting editorial on this subject (leaf vs. link) in the June 2010 Jp mag.

i second that, i'll take 2" less tire and a locker any day over ground clearance. just floor it! you don't need big tires to wheel with the big rigs

    Very clean indeed!
He did say on a different forum that it has very poor road manors and he thought he should have left the rear leaf springs in place.
