I am looking for a little help about the proper connections for the vacuum lines for the windshield wipers and the heater controls for a 1966 CJ-5 with the V6 motor. On my 64 CJ with the F-head, the wiper motors connect to the duel vacuum/fuel pump and the heater line connects to a fitting on the PCV system (intake manifold).

Do these vacuum lines connect directly to the Dauntless V6 intake manifold? My intake manifold has two openings with bolt/plugs in them. Was wondering if this is where the lines connect. Thanks for any advice you may be able to offer.

I'd think when you push the gas to go up a hill the wipers would stop working, but it would be better than nothing.

Yes, you would get direct manifold vacuum through the holes in the manifold.

Thats the way of it on the V6. One fitting (3/8" i.d. I think) goes directly to the wipers then a smaller (1/8" I.D. I think) goes to the heater control. You just don't want to drive up a long hill in a storm at 20 below because you will not have wipers or heat..

Thanks for your responses; the information is very helpful. Now I know why the previous owner converted the vacuum systems for the heater and wipers (The Jeep was from near the Denver area and I suspect he needed effective wipers and heater given the cold winters). I am looking to restore my 66 to original; given that I live in California and use the Jeep primarily in summer, I am hoping the original set up with be adequate.
