My 67 has factory back up lights. I believe the build date was April 1967. My dad bought the jeep new and moved them when he put on a rear tire carrier so they would be visible. They were above the brake light and he moved them to the outside of the brake light. At that point he put them on a switch on the dash so they are not connected to reverse. I then put in a 1-18 4 speed and left the switch were it was on the dash so I could continue to use it as a "manual" back up light. Original factory holes are still there. Peter

Damn! Just taking a turn on the street and the spring broke and you rolled?

"I rolled (flopped) my first '66 CJ5 (back spring broke) the summer of 1969 on the street. With the insurance money I bought a new tub, hood and fenders. I only need the right front fender, but I could only get ones with the marker light cut out. So I bought both front fenders. The hood came with the side reflector and pre-drilled holes."

I think a lot of car companies were doing what they had to do till they were up the speed on the new requirements. Lots of last minute add-ons.[/QUOTE]

Yup, I was turning left, not going to fast. I had two friends in the back seat and another in the passenger seat. Right rear spring broke at the front end. The Jeep just flopped on it's side and slid in to the curb. It didn't even hurt the windshield. The tub, hood, and right front fender were damaged. Also the Whitco top. Took six months to completely rebuild it.
