Is that permixed anti freeze 50/50 mix okay for the older CJ's with V8?

I think you just need to pick one and stick with it.

My understanding is that the "Dex Cool" (orange color) is not compatible with the yellow or green color. Most of the 50/50 mixes will say something on the bottle like "compatible with all antifreeze" or something like that.

I've also heard...I don't know if it's substantiated...that the orange color "Dex" can cause some corrosion problems later down the road if not changed on a regular basis.

Personally...I stick with the standard 50/50 yellow or green style.

I never understood why someone would pay near $6 for a half gallon of water in a jug of 50/50.

Convenience. They don't have to mix it, just add it.
I buy the non mixed stuff myself, then mix it 50/50 in two jugs and then have two gallons for the price of one. :D

You do use distilled or rain water to mix don't you? Our tap water is so hard it would clog a radiator in just a few years.

it's best to use distilled water. I don't because our city water has been filtered, chlorinated, refined, etc. so much that it might as well be bottled distilled water.
