hello all i am the new owner of a 1965 Cj 5 Tuxedo Park Mark IV 4 cylinder 3 speed and as expected I have a question. My problem is my Jeep will not run unless i have the choke knob pulled out it is a single barrel carb and when i pull out on the knob the butterfly shuts completly this is the only way i can get it to run, it seems like it runs fine like this but it seems like it is getting to much gas it just doesnt seem right I already rebuilt the carb does anyone have any suggestions oh yeah and i did search and came up with nothing

Actually, now that I think about it..... The idle mixture screw is probably what you want. It's at the base of the carb under the choke. If you have what looks like a big phillips head screw 180 degrees around the carb body then clockwise on the idle mixture screw is leaner. Otherwise counter-clockwise is leaner. Turn it till idle smooths out.

You could push in choke a little make it idle well. Repeat till choke is off.

HTH. BTW I am not an expert at this. Many of the members know more in their sleep than I do after studying the FSM(Jeep UNIVERSAL SERIES SERVICE MANUAL) which I highly recommend.
