I am still learning about the stock configuration for the early V6 CJ-5s. Can any please describe what the spacer is supposed to look like on the 66 or 67s or does anyone have a picture of one? My Jeep came with a funky piece of thick alumimum stock to fill the space between the frame and crossmember - I think it must have been installed by the PO. Also, does anyone know why the spacer is necessary given that the pre-66 Jeeps with F heads do not require them? Thanks.

Length of engine and drivetrain changed the U-joint and driveline angles therefore the spacers were added to fix the problem. They are simply straps of flat steel with holes drilled in them for the bolts. IIRC there were 3 per side but I can look at the daughter's Jeep and tell for sure. I'll pm you on these.

My 66 V6 had 3/4" piece of plywood each side. I bought the Jeep (I'm second owner) in 1970 so I think they were original. Others on this forum have said they had the same thing.
