Signal Stat 900 switch

I have a 1970 cj5 that came with a Signal Stat 900 turn signal switch. I have all turn indicator lights working but having a problem getting the interal light inside the signal stat switch to work properly.

I have a new electric/mechnical flasher with two prongs. When I connect the blue wire from the Signal Stat switch to the flasher the outside turn signal lights will not work, but the light inside the switch comes on and you hear the click click of the flash unit going.

Do I need a flasher unit with three connections to get the switch light to work in unison with the outside signal lights.

one wier goes to your ingition when you turn the key on mine lights up see if the bulb is good also.
