wheel offset help

Hey guys I need some advice on wheels and tire sizes. I have a '59 cj5 with a 2 1/2" lift and currently run 33 X 9.5 X 15 BFG mud terrains on aftermarket 7 x 15 spoke rims. I would like to go to 33 x 12.5 x 15 tires but don't want them to rub on the inside. should I go with wheel spacers or a different offset wheel? Any advice?

 

33x12.5's will rub on frame and springs with 3.25" backspaced wheels. Not sure how much less you can get. I do think the backspaced wheels are stronger than using spacers but know a lot of people running spacers without any problems.

 

I wouldn't think the 33's would rub much with a 10" rim and 3.50" bs. I had 15x10 Eaton's made with minimum offset (3.5" for them) for my 35's. Rubbed on the front of the leaf spring on one side, but not the other. Did not rub in the back. My issue was 35's rubbed on fenders when you twisted it up and the rear of the tub when 4 guys were in it.

I now have 15x8" Eaton's with the 3.75" bs and 33 10.5. I loved the way the 35's looked, but this combo rocks for driveability as well as clearance.

 

thanks for the tips guys. i think for the small investment i might start with the spacers and see out they work out.
