Where can I find a adjustable plunger rod for a 69 master cylinder? I got mine old one off and the reason I didn't have any free play in my pedal was that the PO had welded a broke rod...

So I'm needing a new one.

Did you try putting an ad the Classifieds? That's what it's there for;)

No I thought that someone may know where I could find a new one from one of our suppliers. Just a stock push rod would be fine, it doesn't have to be adjustable, but would be good..:D

Ok, so did you look in the "Where to buy parts" section at the top of this and the other forums? There is a pretty extensive list of suppliers there.....

I had a 79 jeep that I replaced with a fiberglass body, which meant that the plunger rod was too short. I sawed the plunger rod in half, and threaded each side (since the rod was 3/8 in, I threaded the rod to 3/8-18, and use a long threaded coupling from Home Depot (used to couple threaded rod together, you can find it in the hardware department with the threaded rod). This gave me a way to adjust the rod to the necessary length for the thicker body.

You could do the same with your rod, only you will need to remove a 1/4" or so.

Once you get the correct length, you can either tack weld or hammer jam or lock nut the assembly. A new rod is simpler if you can find one.

Is your master cylinder a dual reservoir with the bolts going sideways through the bowl?

    Ye-up, did that,

I've been to most all of our suppliers web site, the only ones I've seen only comes with the master cylinder itself, I haven't seen one being sold alone. I thought someone could save me some time, but it seems no one knows where to find them.

    I'll use a used stock one...chainsawguy

Glad you found a used one. Remember, just because something isn't listed on their web site doesn't mean they don't carry it. Sometimes an e-mail or phone call is necessary.
