im hoping some one can shed some coleman on my question here. i just got my oil bath air filter for :v6: today. after doing two hours and 7 pages of research, i cannot find what the filter media is made out of inside the top of the filter. it looks like a sos pad all loose. i cant really see inside the top but i think half of this stuff left inside, and im looking to add or replace what is missing...any answers will greatly be appreciated thank you in advance...

X2. That's the media. Serviced at regular intervals - FSM says to clean every 2000 miles. Remove eye bolt on the oil cup clamp and seperate oil cup from cleaner body.... remove oil from cup and clean all dirt from the inside body and cup. summer: refill cup with 1.5 pints of SAE40 or 50 engine oil. Winter: SAE 20. To clean the filtering element - agitate the cleaner body in cleaning solution to clean the element. I just use mineral spirits and put back together. Pretty easy...uh, did that answer anything?

    okay
    so the question would be:
On a V6 oil bath air cleaner, what is the filtering media/material made out of?

If you are looking for something synthetic that is like the steel wool..... I have used Scotch Brite pads for this application excellent stability and easy to cut......available at most stores.....

Find a local machine shop, they should have lots of "swarf" that will fit the bill.
