I'm missing the spring from the e-brake Drum on the back of the transfer case. I assume the spring hooks from the arm to the body somewhere.
Can someone tell me the length of the spring or a part number that I can order one somewhere. I can't figure where the spring connects on the other end.
Does someone have a picture of the spring in its proper location?

Thanks in advance for your help

Not sure exactly which spring you are referring to. There are 2 springs which pull the shoes back in when they are not engauged...and that pressure from the springs alone returns the handle back to its location in the cab. My crossmember of course is removed...but there is no external spring that returns the arm...only the springs inside.

Update...it appears (at least through Kaiserwillys.com) that there is a retracting spring that goes on the arm similiar to what is on the brake and clutch pedal, as they list a part for it. I assume it goes from the arm to somewhere on the crossmember. Can anyone confirm? Mine does not have one but the brake functions and retracts just fine.

I'm talking about a spring that connects to a small thin plate that goes through the clevis and held by the clevis pin, right next to the cotter pin. It appears that the spring would be long and would assist in pulling the arm back into place. Maybe its not worrying about.

yup its just like the one on the brake arm. I dont know if its the same # or not but looks the same. there should be a sheetmetal braket on the body for it. On my 67 i used a shorter spring and just welded a hook on the exhaust pipe because it was a straight shot back.

The spring comes off the lever and hooks into a hook about 12 inches long which then hooks through the frame crossmember ahead of the rear axle.

I don't know if this is correct or not. Mine came that way.
