gm distributor

    Dos any body know the diameter of the gm 4.3 large cap distributor. I am getting ready to fab my motor mounts and need to finalize engine placement. I'm hoping to use the TBI that came with the engine but am worried about were to get the VSS signal, so I want the fall back ability to go to carb and hsi with out firewall problems.     I can try to get a measurement tomorrow for you, but here is a picture if it helps at all. BTW, my dist, is as close as possible to the fire wall, its probably too close.

    Great picture, a measurement would be great, right now I have 3.5" from the center of the distributor tor the fire wall. Your cap looks close to that. Thanks Phil
    PS what is your rad and master cylinder originally out of.

    Rad is from a late 60's mustang, and the master i think is jeep, cj or YJ

    Regarding the vss, you can put a speed sensor in line with your speedo cable. Painless and lots of others make them.
