With the help of some friends, the 74 CJ-6 is finally at the house. I can't do much with it until next month (other than take it apart) but I found a couple things that I have questions about.

The springs on it are 5 leaves each (both front and rear). The rears look longer than the front. The front has the factory shackles and the rear has some after market H shackles with poly bushings. We cut the rotted part of the body off from the toolbox back and the front fenders have been removed. Judging by the height of the frame it seems tall. The springs seem stiff too. I climbed up on the back of the frame and they barely squat under my 300+ pounds. Is there some way to tell if these are after market springs? If they are after market, is there a way to tell how much lift it has? I looked for markings and found none. The shocks are rugged trail (or something like that). Maybe a measurement from the bottom of the frame to the top of the axle tube then compare to a stock one. If not what else could I measure and where could I find some numbers to compare them to?

The front shackle hangers are shot. The PO reinforced them with some plate steel but did a bad job. If I don't do the YJ spring swap I want to replace them with new hangers. Who makes good (and cheap) shackle hangers for the Intermediate CJ?

If I grab the power steering pump, bracket, lines, and box from a full size Jeep with a 360 I know they should bolt to my 304 but will the belts all line up with the existing CJ pulleys? I know I may need a different steering shaft and pitman arm. I already have a nice york 10cfm A/C compressor and brackets from a grand that I will use for OBA.

The long steel straps that run from the front main eye hangers to the rear main eye hangers are loose. The ends are attached but the centers are no longer. I know they were added to the CJ6 for extra strength after the stretch. Should I have them welded back to the bottom of the frame rails so can I just cut them off. This jeep is not going to see any loads or hard wheeling.

Thanks for the support of everyone here. I appreciate the knowledge you each bring to the forum.
