Does anyone know if there is a difference in width between the dana 25 and dana 30 from the points where the tie rods attach? I am doing a steering conversion on my 59 and picked up the rods off from a dana 30 narrow track. After running the ends in as far as possible the rod measures 42.5 inches which seems like about one inch too long when the tires are pointed straight. Everything else seems to be falling in place but this has me stumped. Thanks for any help.

The 30 is wider so requires a longer tie rod and a longer drag link

If you have the tie rod and ends from the 30 that should work fine as it is correct for the 30. If it isn't right then you probably have mixed and matched parts.

For the drag link in the past I've used one of the stock tie rods and the longer end (the one with the hole in it) from the Ross system. It works "ok" and can work fine depending on how you mount the steering box. This is why Herm, R&P, Partsmike, and others build custom tie rods and drag links. I know some folks, including me in the past, have used parts from a '70/'71 Jeepster Commando but as you can imagine these are not necessarily easily found used.

Thanks for the info. I think I might have a line on some comando parts.
